I am an environmental lawyer and consultant specializing in issues relating to international environmental law, energy policies, and sustainable development. I am a member of the U.S. Citizens Network for Sustainable Development (CitNet), and have been involved in advocating for sustainable energy and environmental policies nationally, internationally, and locally in New York and the U. S. Virgin Islands. I have attended all the meetings of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development since it began in 1993, and for several years during the Clinton administration served as a NGO representative on the US delegation to the CSD.
Attending the Stockholm meeting in June 2007 was the first time I have been involved in the Marrakech process, though I have taken part in some other advocacy activities at the CSD in connection with promoting sustainable production and consumption patterns. Since the June meeting I have been thinking about the best way to be engaged with the Marrakech process, and how the process can be used most effectively by NGOs, and would like to be part of the discussion on this.
